Predicción Premios Temporada NBA 11-12 / 11-12 NBA Season Awards Prediction

After the regular season, the predictions of Sexto Hombre for the 11-12 NBA season awards are:

Jugador Más Valioso / Most Valuable Player:

KEVIN DURANT (Oklahoma City Thunder)
Finalistas: LeBron James (Miami Heat), Kobe Bryant (Los Angeles Lakers).
For the third consecutive year, the small forward was the leading scorer of the season. In turn, he increased the production in other aspects of the game as assists, rebounds and field goal percentage. This last item is the most important since Durant chose his shots better this year. Last season he had thrown 19.71 shots per game with a 46.2 % field goal. In this season he 19.65 field goals attempts per game with a 49.6 % from the field. Durant didn't go down much his shot attempts per game but significantly increased his percentage of field goals. In turn, Oklahoma improved its performance this with respect to the previous season.
Finalists: LeBron James (Miami Heat), Kobe Bryant (Los Angeles Lakers).

Novato del Año / Rookie of the Year:

KYRIE IRVING (Cleveland Cavaliers)

Finalistas:Ricky Rubio (Minnessota Timberwolves), Klay Thompson (Golden State Warriors).
No. 1 NBA Draft 2011 was key to his team as he remained healthy. Until the All-Star Weekend, Cleveland was in the 9th position in the East. Irving averaged 19.5 points and 5.1 assists per game during the first half of the season. Clevelan had a very bad second half of the season but was not noted at the level of the Irving, who lowered his point average (17.21) but increased the assists per game (5.69).
Finalists: Ricky Rubio (Minnessota Timberwolves), Klay Thompson (Golden State Warriors).

Entrenador del Año / Coach of the Year:

TOM THIBODEAU (Chicago Bulls)
Finalistas: Gregg Popovich (San Antonio Spurs), Frank Vogel (Indiana Pacers).
Chicago maintained his defensive intensity in the absence of Derrick Rose, who missed 27 matches in the regular season. The bench also responded very well offensively. Players like John Lucas III and C.J. Watson at point guard, took over the rhythm of the team with the absence of Rose. Without their superstar, Chicago had 18-9(0.666) recordBulls had prolonged veteran guard Richard Hamilton out of the courts for an injury, also. Despite this, Chicago had the best record in the season, largely due to Thibodeau.
Finalists: Gregg Popovich (San Antonio Spurs), Frank Vogel (Indiana Pacers).

Jugador Defensivo del Año / Defensive Player of the Year:

DWIGHT HOWARD (Orlando Magic)
Finalistas: Serge Ibaka (Oklahoma City Thunder), Tyson Chandler (New York Knicks).
Why not Ibaka? It's simple. The Defensive Player of the Year has to have several defensive aspects such as blocks, steals and defensive rebounds. CurrentlyIbaka is the best blocker in the NBA but for example, he's not a player with many defensive rebounds. Dwight Howard was more complete defensively and the stats support this. In this season he averaged 2.2 blocks per game, 1.5 steals per game and 10.8 defensive rebounds per game. In addition, he was absent in 12 games, in which Orlando allowed an average of 98.6 per game, 6.4 more points than with Howard on court(92.2).
Finalists: Serge Ibaka (Oklahoma City Thunder), Tyson Chandler (New York Knicks).

Jugador de Mayor Progreso / Most Improved Player:

JEREMY LIN (New York Knicks)
Finalistas: Ryan Anderson (Orlando Magic), Andrew Bynum  (Los Angeles Lakers).
Choosing the Most Improved Player is always the most subjective of all the choicesBut this year was made easier with "Linsanity" irruption. Lin played 35 games, averaging 14.6 points and 6.2 assists. Too much improvement over the few 29 games played with Golden State Warriors last season when he averaged 2.6 points and 1.4 assists. This season, as a starter he averaged 18.2 points and 7.7 assists in 25 games, of which New York won 15.
Finalists: Ryan Anderson (Orlando Magic), Andrew Bynum (Los Angeles Lakers).

Sexto Hombre / Sixth Man:

JAMES HARDEN (Oklahoma City Thunder)
Finalistas: Taj Gibson (Chicago Bulls), Louis Williams (Philadelphia 76ers).
The "Beard" had the best season of his career. With respect to last year, he improved in almost all areas: points, assists, rebounds, field goal percentage and 3-point shooting. He also achieved career highs in points (40 vs. Phoenix on April 18, 2012) and assists (9 vs. Dallas on February 1, 2012). Since the departure of Jeff Green to Boston, he became another offensive alternative to Oklahoma behind Durant and Westbrook.
Finalists: Taj Gibson (Chicago Bulls), Louis Williams (Philadelphia 76ers).
